White-Collar Crimes / Drug Crimes

Nassau County & Suffolk County White-Collar Crime Attorney

The old saying, "A grand jury could indict a ham sandwich," is close to the truth, at least in New York. More than likely, if a district attorney presents a case of fraud, embezzlement, or RICO racketeering to a grand jury, they are going to obtain an indictment. However, that doesn't mean the government can prove its case.

At the Law Offices of Christopher J. Cassar, P.C., our lawyers have a good track record of defending people in Suffolk and Nassau counties charged with white-collar crimes. Examples of white-collar crimes include:

  • Gambling

  • Bribery

  • Stock fraud

  • Consumer fraud

  • Tax evasion

  • Embezzlement

  • Fraudulent licensing

  • Money laundering

  • Bank and mortgage fraud

  • RICO racketeering

  • Identity theft

  • Internet crimes

White-collar crimes are more technical than other types of criminal charges. Evidence in these cases usually involves a paper trial. They often require expert witnesses such as forensic accountants and auditors to determine whether the evidence supports the charge.

Sometimes the best way to handle a white-collar crime charge is to force the government to prove its case in court. In one highly publicized case in Suffolk County, we obtained an acquittal for a client who had been charged with 13 federal RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) crimes. The federal court judge in the case said that attorney Christopher Cassar's cross examination was "very aggressive" and that the defense was "spectacular." See our Case Histories and Press Releases for more information about this and other cases we have handled.

Nassau County & Suffolk County Drug Offense Attorney

A drug charge is a serious problem. While most people focus on immediate consequences such as jail time, the future consequences can be worse. If you are found guilty, you could have a criminal record for the rest of your life, making it harder to find work, rent an apartment, or get a loan. If you are an immigrant, pleading guilty to a drug charge can even lead to removal or deportation proceedings.

At the Law Offices of Christopher J. Cassar, P.C., our lawyers have a good track record of defending people charged with drug crimes. We represent many juveniles and young adults charged with drug possession. In these cases, our goal is to minimize the effect of the drug charge on your life now and in the future. We offer a free initial consultation to evaluate your case.

Examples of drug offenses are:

  • Possession of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, and other controlled substances

  • Possession with intent to sell or deliver narcotics

  • Drug trafficking

Our lawyers are aware of the effects drug crime and white-collar crime convictions can have on your immigration status. If you are an immigrant, we will work hard to resolve the charges in a way that does not result in removal or deportation proceedings.
